Company NVP “НКЕМЗ” is located in the young beautiful city of New Kakhovka, located on the left bank of the Dnieper, in the Kherson region of Ukraine.
From the very first days of its operation, the Novokakhovsk Electric Machine Building Plant demonstrated a constant desire to be a leader in the industry., being at the forefront of the best achievements of science and technology. The project of the plant was developed by the Moscow State Design Institute on the basis of the decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, adopted 24 september 1954 of the year. The construction of the industrial giant was entrusted to the illustrious management of Dneprostroy., who built the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. It was planned: the plant should go into operation in 1958, just a year after the commissioning of the hydroelectric complex.
20 september 1955 of the year construction of building No. 1 has begun to accommodate auxiliary workshops – instrumental, repair-mechanical and other. A rally was held here that day, which was attended by local leadership and workers. This date became the birthday of the plant.. It was on this day on the site, set aside for the construction of the future giant of the domestic electrical engineering, the first column of the first production building was assembled.
Despite various organizational difficulties, the team started production of explosion-proof asynchronous motors KOM-31-4 14 months ahead of schedule. Electric motors up to 100 kW began to be produced at a given time in 1958 year. The plant had problems with material and labor limits – the team felt an acute shortage of them, in addition, ringing orders and medals, left "Dneprostroy". But the main thing was, what with 1957 from Nova Kakhovka by train, by road, ships and planes (through the airport "Kakhovka") transported the company's products to all corners of the former Soviet Union. The plant workers, fulfilling the state plan, continued to erect unfinished objects even before 1965 of the year.
Just two years after the laying of building No. 1, under construction conditions, the enterprise produced more than 2 thous. electric motors. In the period from 1958 to 1960, its own design bureau was created, new buildings were built and commissioned, including a powerful and highly mechanized foundry. The production was fully equipped with equipment, issuing up to 100 thous. tons of products per year. The common cliche "giant of mechanical engineering" applied to the plant sounded without any pathos – and this is in some five years from the moment of foundation!
And just five years later – to the tenth anniversary of the enterprise – electric motors were already in demand in 39 countries of the world. V 1966 year was released millionth engine. Now he, like the very first, manufactured in 1957, kept in the museum…
Subsequent 20 years, until the early 90s, – continuous series of labor achievements of a wonderful team. Along with the development of new product samples, constant growth of its production volumes, expanding the geography of supplies, the plant systematically increased production capacity, equipping their workshops with the most advanced equipment at that time. So, modular and special machines were included in the overall technological chain, including CNC, automatic lines of domestic and foreign production.
The products have proven themselves well at coal mining enterprises., chemical, oil and gas, agricultural industries. Electric motors of the NKEMZ brand were exported to 61 country of the world, including England, France, Japan, Germany and others. And has been awarded at many international exhibitions and fairs. On its 25th anniversary, the plant produced a record volume of products – 660 thous. electric motors. The plant reached its maximum volume in 1980 year – it was about 10 percent of installed electric cars in the country with a brand name in the form of an engine silhouette, pierced by an arrow of lightning through the corners of the rhombus.
Consumer goods were also produced, these are the best-selling electric kebab makers, juicers. washing machines and other products.

In the 90s, the enterprise was transformed into an Open Joint Stock Company “Южелектромаш“, which over time was abolished.
In 2000, the Workshop of Large Electric Machines was withdrawn from its structure., and an enterprise was created on its basis LLC "ZKEM", which is still engaged in the production of large electrical machines, being one of the most dynamically developing enterprises of the electrical industry in our country. Its main activity is the development and manufacture of synchronous and asynchronous electric motors., alternators, DC motors, as well as their repair and service.
After a series of reorganizations, since 2015. novokakhovskiy electrical machine building the plant is called OOO “NVP“НКЕМЗ“, and specializes in the design and manufacture of asynchronous electric motors and generators with squirrel-cage rotor - explosion-proof and general industrial, with the height of the axis of rotation 90-355 mm, capacity from 0,75 kW to 315,0 kw, for AC power supply with frequency 50 Hz or 60 Hz, tension 220/380 V, 380/660 In or 660/1140 In various constructive and climatic versions.
There were difficult periods, but the team survived. The plant was saved, and continues to work today. Already in the 2000s, the range of products has been significantly expanded - new machines are developed and introduced into production every year, which are supplied to consumers in Ukraine and abroad. Novokakhovsk machine builders are actively restoring their previous positions, and develop new markets.
NVP“НКЕМЗ“ has a modern engineering center, experimental and research base, pilot production. The company implements its own scientific and management innovations.
